Developer Mode & Debug Mode on Meta Quest Devices

Steps to enable Developer Mode & Debug Mode on Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro devices.

πŸ’‘ In order to set up devices with ArborXR, Debug Mode must be enabled. Given Debug Mode is a setting within Developer Mode, developer mode must first be enabled on the device. This knowledge base article details how to turn on developer mode so that Debug Mode can likewise be enabled.

  1. Click here to signup for a developer account then login with your Meta account.

    ​Did you know, that if you have already set up a Quest Developer Organization, you can add additional Meta accounts under the same Developer Organization? You'll need to create the Meta accounts first but you can learn more about adding your Meta accounts to an existing Quest Developer Organization here [Meta Quest Developer documentation].

    • Select Continue with Facebook if you have linked your Meta and Facebook accounts.

    • Select Log in with email if your Meta account is unlinked from your Facebook account.
      ​

  2. Download the Meta companion app to your mobile phone.

  3. Login to the companion app with your Meta account.

    • Select Continue with Facebook if you have linked your Meta and Facebook accounts.

    • Select Log in with email if your Meta account is unlinked from your Facebook account.

  4. Turn on your Quest headset.

  5. In the mobile companion app, select Menu on the far right hand corner of the bottom navigation menu.

  6. Select Devices.
    ​

  7. Select Headset Settings

  8. Select Developer Mode.
    ​

  9. Toggle on the Debug Mode option.
    ​

  10. Connect the Quest to your PC.

  11. Put on the headset and within VR you will see the prompt, Accept USB debugging? Select Always allow from this computer.
    ​
