Overview

For many first-time users, virtual reality is a brand-new experience, and can be daunting to know where to start. To help ease users into the experience of using the various aspects of VR, Meta has created a helpful introductory application - First Steps.

The installation method of First Steps depends on how your Meta Quest devices are managed within ArborXR. Before proceeding, determine your device's enrollment method:

  1. Horizon Managed Services (HMS): Devices enrolled via Horizon managed services.

  2. Legacy/Consumer: Devices enrolled via the ArborXR Device Setup App.

Option 1: Horizon Managed Services (HMS) Devices

If your devices were enrolled via HMS, you can leverage ArborXR's integration with Meta's "managed" app store to deploy the app remotely.

Follow our guide on How to Install Meta Horizon Store Apps via ArborXR to install First Steps.

Option 2: Legacy/Consumer Devices

Devices enrolled via the ArborXR Device Setup App are classified as 'Legacy' devices. Because of this enrollment path, the integration with Meta’s "managed" app store is unavailable. Consequently, apps from the Horizon App Store, such as First Steps, must be installed manually on the device rather than through the ArborXR portal.

Follow our guide on Unmanaged Apps to install First Steps.
