Introduction:

This guide provides instructions on how your Meta Quest headset handles new software releases, including steps to ensure automatic updates and how to manually check for and initiate software updates.

Ensuring Automatic Software Updates

To facilitate automatic updates for your Meta Quest headset, follow these best practices:

1. Charge Your Headset:

Ensure your headset is adequately charged to prevent any interruptions during the update process.

2. Keep Your Headset Turned On:

The headset should be on to receive and install updates.

3. Maintain Wi-Fi Connection:

Ensure a stable and continuous connection to Wi-Fi.

4. Position Your Headset Properly:

Place your headset on a flat surface. Avoid moving it or obstructing the inside sensor for an extended period, as this could initiate sleep mode.

💡Note: Your Meta Quest will not update automatically if it is turned off or in sleep mode.

Manually Checking for Software Updates

If you prefer to manually check for updates or want to ensure that your headset is running the latest software version, follow these steps:

1. Access the Universal Menu:

  • Press the Oculus button (⏺️) or the Meta button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.

2. Navigate to Quick Settings:

  • Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.

3. Go to Settings:

  • Select 'Settings' in the top right corner.

4. Check for Software Updates:

  • Select 'System', then choose 'Software Update' from the left menu. Here, you can view your current software version.

  • If a new version is available, a button to download the update will be visible. Click it to start the update process.

Summary:

Regular software updates are crucial for the optimal performance of your Meta Quest headset. By following the above steps, you can ensure your headset remains up-to-date with the latest features and security enhancements.
