Ensuring Automatic Software Updates
To facilitate automatic updates for your Meta Quest headset, follow these best practices:
1. Ensure Automatic Updates are Enabled in the ArborXR Web Portal (Available for Essential, Classroom Pro, and Enterprise plans):
Under a device group or ungrouped device's Settings section, click Operating System Updates, then under the desired device model, click the dropdown and select Automatic. Finally, click Apply Changes.
2. Charge Your Headset:
Ensure your headset is plugged into power or adequately charged to prevent any interruptions during the update process.
3. Keep Your Headset Turned On:
The headset should be on to receive and install updates.
4. Maintain Wi-Fi Connection:
Ensure a stable and continuous connection to Wi-Fi.
5. Position Your Headset Properly:
Place your headset on a flat surface. Avoid moving it or obstructing the inside sensor for an extended period, as this could initiate sleep mode.
💡Note: Your Meta Quest will not update automatically if it is turned off or in sleep mode.
Manually Checking for Software Updates
If you prefer to manually check for updates or want to ensure that your headset is running the latest software version, follow these steps:
1. Access the Meta App Pause Menu:
Press the Oculus button (⏺️) or the Meta button on your right controller to pull up Meta's App Pause menu.
2. Navigate to Quick Settings:
Hover over the clock in the lower-left corner of the app pause menu. Click to open the Quick Settings panel.
3. Go to Settings:
Select 'Settings' in the top right corner (this should be selected automatically).
4. Check for Software Updates:
Click 'Software Update'. Here, you can view your current software version.
If a new version is available, a button to download the update will be visible. Click it to start the update process. Otherwise, you'll see a "You're all up to date!" message.
