What are nested groups?

With nested groups, you can now create parent groups and an unlimited number of nested sub-groups. This allows you to model your groups after your real-world company structure and manage devices in a more logical fashion. For example, you may create a parent group for an entire corporate division, with nested sub-groups for individual departments, locations, teams, etc.

With the flexible hierarchy enabled by nested groups, you gain more granular control over your devices. Groups can be leveraged more strategically to enable easier scalability as your organization grows.

For more information about creating nested groups, see this article.

What plans have access to the nested groups feature?

Only the Essential & Enterprise plans have access to the nested groups feature.

What do nested groups mean for my existing groups?

If you already had an ArborXR account prior to the rollout of the nested groups feature (Feb 8th, 2024), all of your existing groups are considered configuration groups.

A configuration group is a grouping of the same model of devices with shared content (including apps, files, videos, and WebXR links) and settings (such as WiFi configurations and launch method).

At the moment, configuration groups only support a single device model. For example, you cannot add both Pico Neo 3 devices and Meta Quest 3 devices to the same configuration group.

When you make changes to the apps or files within a configuration group, those changes will apply to all devices within that group. Similarly, if you modify the settings of a configuration group, such as changing the launch method, those changes will affect all devices in that group.

Where can I find my existing configuration groups?

If you already had an ArborXR account prior to the rollout of the nested groups feature (Feb 8th, 2024), once you log in you'll notice that the Devices and Groups tabs have been combined into a single page for easier access.

Upon clicking the Devices and Groups, you'll be directed to the All Devices page.

If you have devices that are not assigned to any group, you can still find them easily. Look for the Ungrouped Devices tab, which will display all devices that haven't been organized into groups.

To access your groups, use the new sub-navigation menu.

⚠️ In terms of your existing groups, nothing is changing. Your configuration groups will continue to exist, and you can access them as before.

How can I nest my existing configuration groups and assign them to a parent group?

Method 1: Drag & Drop

  1. Click on the existing group you want to assign to a parent group.

  2. While continuing to hold the click, drag and drop the group into the desired parent group.

Method 2: Edit Group

  1. Navigate to the configuration group you want to move.

  2. Click on the Edit icon in the top right.

  3. Click on the Parent Group (Optional) input to open a dropdown displaying parent groups.

  4. Select the desired parent group then click Apply Changes.

Does the 30 day free trial include access to nested groups?

Yes.

What if I upgrade from the 30 day trial to the Starter plan instead of the Essential or Enterprise plans?

If you create nested groups during the trial and upgrade to Starter plan instead of the Essential or Enterprise plans, your configuration groups will continue to exist in in a flat list but your nested groups will be removed.
