Who can use this feature?

πŸ‘€ Organizations Owners, Admins, Group Admins and custom roles with the "Remotely View Device File System" and "Remotely Delete Files from the File System" permissions.
🚩 Available on the Essential, Classroom Pro, and Enterprise Plans.

Overview

Remotely view the file structure of devices directly from the ArborXR web portal. This gives you instant visibility into content installation paths, log files, user-generated data, and any other stored information. You can also remotely delete specific files. This level of granular control is helpful for troubleshooting deployment issues, managing storage limits, and cleaning up residual data, all without ever needing to physically touch the headset.

Steps to View & Delete Files

  1. Navigate to a device.

  2. Click View File System.

This will open a drawer in the right side of the ArborXR portal where you can view the device's file system, search for files or folders, and remotely delete files.

  3. To delete files, click on the three dot more options icon then select Delete.

πŸ’‘ Files installed using ArborXR are marked with the ArborXR logo on their file icon and cannot be deleted directly through the file system viewer. To remove these files from your device, you must uninstall them via ArborXR.

Expected Behavior

  • File Visibility Limit: Files located in protected system directories, such as the Android/data folder, may not be visible within ArborXR. This is due to restrictions in Android 11 and newer that limit MDM solutions like ArborXR from accessing these locations.

  • Offline File Viewing: You can still view a device's file system even when it's offline. When a device is offline, the file system data displayed reflects the last successful sync. If you delete a file while offline, the deletion will be queued. The file will be deleted the next time your device connects to ArborXR.

  • ArborXR Managed Files: Files installed using ArborXR are marked with the ArborXR logo on their file icon and cannot be deleted directly through the file system viewer. To remove these files from your device, you must uninstall them via ArborXR.
