As of February 26, 2025, Meta has changed how Quest devices enroll into ArborXR. To enroll, you’ll need to use ArborXR’s integration with Horizon managed services. This may come with changes to pricing, privacy, and agreements, as enrollment will be managed through Meta’s system.

Troubleshooting Device Enrollment

Welcome to this guide on troubleshooting a Meta Quest when setting up with ArborXR. Here, we’ll cover common issues and their solutions to ensure a smooth setup process.

Device Disconnected

Most errors are exactly as they read. In this case, the connection to the device was dropped, which could be due to various reasons. Make sure the user is using an approved cable. The best one to use is the original Meta Quest cable without any adapters.

🔌 Technical tip: If the original Meta Quest cable is not available gen USB-C 3.1 gen 1 or better will work.

Pending ADB Authorization

When you see the status Pending ADB Authorization in the Device Setup app after accepting the prompts in VR, put on the headset again, the USB-C cable could have momentarily been jostled enough to break the connection and thus re-prompt the user.

Invalid Refresh Token

If you encounter an "invalid refresh token" error when setting up your headset with ArborXR, try the following steps:

  1. Accept All In-VR Prompts

  2. When first using the headset, users will see prompts for file transfer, guardian setup, and "New Desktop View."

  3. Have them click "Allow" for all prompts.

  4. Ensure No Other Apps Are Open

  5. Make sure no other applications are running during the setup process.

  6. Unplug and Replug the Headset

    1. Simply unplugging the headset cable and plugging it back in can reset the connection.

    2. Have users replug to get any missed prompts.

  7. Use an Approved Cable

    1. Make sure the cable being used supports USB debugging:

    2. Original Meta Cable: Use the original cable with no adapters.

  8. Enable USB Connection Dialog

    1. If you previously dismissed prompts, to enable "USB Connection Dialog":

      1. Go to Quick Settings > Settings > System > Developer > USB Connection Dialog.

      2. Turn off and back on if already enabled.

  9. Unplug and Replug Again

    1. After enabling the USB dialog, have users unplug and replug the headset cable. Accept any prompts displayed.

  10. Retry Setup

    1. After accepting prompts and resetting the connection, users should be able to complete the headset setup successfully.
