To deploy OBBs on devices running Android 11 or higher, ArborXR's client app requires a specific permission. Currently this is only applicable for Meta Quest devices, which recently updated to Android 12 as of OS v51, but could apply to other device types in the future.

💡 While ArborXR now obtains this permission automatically during initial enrollment via the Device Setup App as of version 2023.19.0 released on May 10th, 2023, if your device was enrolled into ArborXR before May 10th then you will need to follow the steps below in order to install OBB files.

  1. Power on and put on the headset.

  2. In ArborXR Home, select the gear icon in the bottom right hand corner of the dock to navigate to settings.

  3. In the top right, in the Install OBB Files box, select the Update button.

  4. Select the Grant Permission button.

  5. This will open a system window with a toggle to grant ArborXR's client app with the permission to Install Unknown Apps. Toggle Allow from this source on.

  6. Reboot the device.

  7. Navigate back to the web portal and retry the deployment of the app containing the OBB file.
