Overview

With ArborXR's file support you can upload any type of file (.txt, .jpeg, .json, .mp4, etc.) other than .apk and .obb, then remotely write the files to the specified path on your devices. There are no file size restrictions.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you have a use case for playing 360°, 180°, or 2D video, ArborXR offers a native video player that is integrated into our launcher, ArborXR Home. To upload video files for playback in ArborXR Home, upload video files to the Videos page in the Content Library, not the Files page. For more information about video support, see this article.

Hosting & Storage

ArborXR offers the ability for customers to connect their own cloud storage bucket to isolate their content (apps & files) from other content on the platform. For more information about configuring and connecting a custom storage bucket, see this article.

Upload Files

  1. Navigate to Files in the side navigation menu.

  2. Click Add Files or Add Folder.

  3. This will open a modal where you will need to drag & drop the relevant file(s) or folder, or click Browse to locate the file(s) or folder on your PC.

💡NOTE: The default path of files uploaded to ArborXR is /sdcard/ but you can optionally add to this directory path while uploading the files. You can override this path while installing the files to devices or groups. For more information on installing files, see this article.

  4. Once uploaded, you can optionally add tags to files. For more information about creating, assigning and filtering by tags, see this article.

Replace an Uploaded File

To replace a file that has already been uploaded with a new file:

  1. Click Add Files.

  2. This will open a modal where you will need to specify the path on the device where the file should be written. Ensure the path of the new file matches the path of the file being replaced.

  3. Drag & drop the relevant file, or click Browse to locate the file on your PC. Ensure the filename of the new file matches the filename of the file being replaced.

  4. Click Upload.

  5. Provided the path and filename matches that of an existing file, you will be prompted to either Keep Both or Replace. Select Replace.

💡NOTE: On clicking Replace and after the file has uploaded, the old file will be queued to uninstall on any devices it has been written to and the new file will be queued for install.

Upload Multiple "Versions" of the Same File

To upload multiple versions of the same file, such as a configuration file:

  1. Click Add Files.

  2. This will open a modal where you will need to specify the path on the device where the file should be written. Ensure the path of the new file matches the path of the previously uploaded file.

  3. Drag & drop the relevant file, or click Browse to locate the file on your PC. Ensure the filename of the new file matches the filename of the previously uploaded file.

  4. Click Upload.

  5. Provided the path and filename matches that of an existing file, you will be prompted to either Keep Both or Replace. Select Keep Both.

  6. Once uploaded, the label "Copy 1" will automatically be appended to the file. If more versions are uploaded, the number specified in the label will increase accordingly.

  7. Labels can optionally be renamed by hovering over the label then selecting the edit icon.
