Prevent Device Factory Reset

Steps to prevent ArborXR-managed devices from being factory reset via device settings.

Who can use this feature?

👤 Organizations Owners, Admins, Group Admins, and custom roles with the "Configure Security Settings" feature.
🚩 Available on the Essential, Classroom Pro, and Enterprise Plans.

ArborXR offers remote factory reset functionality, which you can learn more about here.

Additionally, ArborXR offers a setting to disable factory resetting locally through the device's in-headset settings UI, to ensure that only admins can remotely factory reset devices as needed via the web portal.

💡 Meta's operating system does not provide an option to factory reset the device through the in-headset settings UI. Therefore, this feature is not applicable to Meta Quest devices.

To prevent end users from factory resetting devices locally through the device's in-headset settings UI:

  1. Navigate to the individual ungrouped device or device group in question.

  2. Click on the Settings tab.

  3. Click on Security in the sub navigation menu.

  4. Uncheck the Allow User Factory Reset box.

  5. Click Save.

⚠️

  • This does not disable factory resetting via Android's Recovery Mode.

  • This does not disable factory resetting Meta Quest devices via the Meta Horizon mobile app.

  • This does not disable factory resetting Meta Quest devices via Horizon managed services.
