Overview

Explore XR is the content repository built into ArborXR. Every ArborXR customer can browse it from their portal and add apps to their Content Library in a few clicks. The ArborXR Directory (arborxr.com/xr-directory) is the public, search-engine-indexed side of the same catalog, where buyers discover XR developers and their products before they ever log in.

As an app developer, you manage all of it from the Explore XR page in your own ArborXR portal. The same place you already upload builds and share apps. The separate Directory Portal has been retired; everything it did now happens here.

There are three things you can publish:

  • Directory Profile: your company's public page on the ArborXR Directory. This is required before you can publish anything else.

  • Explore XR Listing: an app that ArborXR customers can add to their library directly from Explore XR. A listing can be a demo, a trial, or your full app (if you handle licensing in-product). Each listing is linked to real builds in your Content Library, so you also get usage data for it.

  • Offering: an app or product you want a page for on the public Directory, but don't want distributed through Explore XR. Useful for paid products without built-in licensing, hardware, or services.

Everything you submit is reviewed by ArborXR the first time. Once it's approved, later updates you make are published automatically.

Step 1: Get a Developer Account

The Explore XR publishing tools appear only for organizations set up as a developer (ISV) organization. To get one, or to have your existing organization switched over, email partnerships@arborxr.com.

A Developer Account gives you:

  • Easy app distribution. Share apps directly with organizations on ArborXR, so no file sharing or sideloading is required. Every subsequent update you publish pushes straight to your customers' libraries.

  • Version management. Many developers use release channels to quickly share versions of their apps across departments for feedback, review, and demos.

  • Device management. If you manage headsets on behalf of your customers, you can do that from the same account.

  • Explore XR & Directory publishing. A public Directory Profile, Explore XR Listings, and Offerings - plus analytics on who's using your listed apps.

Once your organization is set up, open Explore XR in the left navigation. You'll see three pages:

  • Directory: create and manage your Directory Profile and Offerings.

  • Explore XR Listings: create and manage the apps you distribute through Explore XR.

  • Browse Explore XR: the same catalog your customers see.

💡 Already have an ArborXR account that isn't set up as a developer organization? You don't need a new login - just ask partnerships@arborxr.com to enable developer features on your existing organization.

Step 2: Create Your Directory Profile

Your Directory Profile is your public presence on the ArborXR Directory. Customers and resellers see it when they discover your apps - it's how you tell your story, showcase your products, and build credibility before a purchase decision is made. A published profile is also required before you can submit a Listing or an Offering.

Create and fill in your profile

  1. Navigate to Explore XR > Directory in the side navigation menu.

  2. Click Create Profile.

  3. Work through each section of the profile form:

    • Company Information: company name, website, description (minimum 60 characters), year established, headquarters, and optional public email, meeting link, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

    • Profile & Classification: type of developer, type of content, devices supported, regions supported, primary industry focus, and up to 5 additional industry focuses. These drive where you appear in Directory filters.

    • Customers, Credibility & Pricing: up to 8 notable customers (must be publicly verifiable or verifiable on request), awards and milestones, security compliance, pricing notes, and whether you offer a trial.

    • Media: your logo (PNG or SVG, 3:2 ratio, max 5 MB; it's shown on a white background), 3–10 gallery images (16:9 or 3:2 preferred, max 10 MB each), and optionally up to 3 videos as YouTube/Vimeo embeds or uploads.

    • FAQs, Testimonials & Customer Stories (optional): up to 6 FAQs, 5 testimonials (source required), and 3 customer stories or case studies.

  4. Click Save at any time to keep a draft. You can come back and finish later.

  5. When every required field is complete, click Submit for Review.

💡 Required to submit: company name, website, description, year established, headquarters, developer type, content type, devices supported, regions supported, primary industry focus, a logo, and at least 3 gallery images. If Submit for Review is greyed out, hover over it to see what's still missing.

Profile Strength

The Directory page shows a Profile Strength meter so you can see how complete your profile is from a buyer's perspective:

  • Basic: all required fields are filled in. The profile can be submitted.

  • Complete: Basic, plus at least three of: additional industry focuses, security compliance, a LinkedIn or YouTube profile, a public email address, or notable customers.

  • Advanced: Complete, plus a customer story, a testimonial, and one of: awards and recognition, product pricing, or FAQs.

Buyers compare profiles side by side, so it's worth going past Basic.

Review and publishing

After you submit, the status tag next to your profile name tells you where things stand:

  • Draft: saved but not yet submitted.

  • Pending Review: ArborXR has been notified and is reviewing your submission.

  • Changes Requested: we need something adjusted before we can publish. Make the changes and submit again.

  • Published: your profile is live. Click View Profile to open your public page on the ArborXR Directory.

The first submission is reviewed by ArborXR. After your profile is published, edits you make and save go live automatically, no need to wait on us. To take your profile down, click Request Unpublish; an ArborXR admin will process it shortly.

Step 3: Create an Explore XR Listing

A Listing is how your app appears on Explore XR. It's the page customers see when they browse Explore XR in their portal, and it's linked to one or more real builds from your Content Library. When a customer clicks Add, the build is added to their Content Library the same way a shared app is. They can deploy it to devices immediately, and you can see who added it and how it's being used.

A listing can be whatever makes sense for your business:

  • A demo: a trimmed-down build that shows what your app does.

  • A trial: your full app with a time or feature limit built in.

  • Your full app: if your app handles licensing or sign-in in-product, you can list the real thing and use Explore XR as another distribution channel for your customers.

💡 Before you start: your Directory Profile must be Published, and the app you want to list must already be uploaded to your Content Library with at least one available build.

Create the listing

  1. Navigate to Explore XR > Explore XR Listings in the side navigation menu.

  2. Click Add Listing.

  3. Enter a Listing Name and click Add Listing. You'll land on the listing's page, which has three tabs: Linked Apps, Details, and Analytics.

  1. On the Linked Apps tab, click Add Apps.

  2. Under Ready to Submit, select the app(s) to include. Apps that are already linked to another listing, or that have no available builds, are shown separately and can't be selected.

  3. Assign one build to each app. The default is Latest, which automatically follows the newest version you upload. Choose a specific version instead if you want to pin the listing to a particular build.

  4. Click Add to Listing.

💡 One listing per product, all platforms included. If you have the same app for multiple platforms, for example Meta Quest and PICO, add each platform build as a separate entry on the same listing, so customers see one product and pick the version that matches their devices. Each app can only belong to one listing.

Fill in the details

On the Details tab, complete the listing content. All of the following are required before you can submit:

  • Listing Name: keep it consistent with the names of your linked apps.

  • Short Description: the pitch shown on the app card in Explore XR: what the app does and who it's for.

  • Long Description: features, use cases, and key benefits. Shown on the listing detail page and the public Directory.

  • Industries or sectors: up to 3. These determine where your listing appears in Explore XR and Directory filters.

  • WiFi Requirements: whether WiFi is required, recommended, or not needed.

  • Controller Support: which controller types the app supports.

  • What's included within the experience: shown as badges on the listing so customers know what to expect.

  • Licensing: Free or License required. Licensing and payment are handled outside of Explore XR.

  • Media: a listing thumbnail and at least 3 gallery images. Up to 3 videos (YouTube/Vimeo embeds or uploads) are optional.

Click Save when you're done.

Submit for review

  1. At the top of the listing page, click Submit for Review. If the button is disabled, hover over it to see what's missing, usually a required detail or a linked app.

  2. The listing moves to Pending Review. ArborXR is notified immediately.

  3. Once approved, the listing shows Published and is visible to every ArborXR customer in Explore XR. A dedicated Explore XR release channel is created for each linked app to manage the builds that customers receive.

Just like your profile, only the first submission is reviewed. After the listing is published, changes you save go live automatically.

Share your listing

Every published listing gets a Share Link, shown at the top of the listing page. Send it to a prospect or customer and they can add the app to their organization straight from the link. If they don't have an ArborXR account yet, they'll be prompted to create one. Published listings also get a public page on the ArborXR Directory that's visible to anyone, logged in or not.

Update the build customers receive

If you linked an app with Latest selected, every new version you upload to your Content Library rolls out to customers automatically. If you pinned a specific version, open the listing's Linked Apps tab and change the build for that app whenever you're ready to ship an update. Customers who already added your app receive the new version the same way they would for any shared app.

See who's using your listing

The Analytics tab on each listing shows every organization that added your app - whether from Explore XR or your share link - along with the number of devices it's installed on, session counts, and average and total session duration per organization. This is the same data that was previously only available to ArborXR, now in your hands.

Add an Offering

An Offering is an app or product you want to promote on your public Directory Profile without distributing it through Explore XR - for example, a paid app that doesn't have in-product licensing, a hardware product, or a service. Offerings get their own detail page on the ArborXR Directory and link visitors back to you.

  1. Navigate to Explore XR > Directory in the side navigation menu.

  2. In the Offerings section, click Add Offering. (Your Directory Profile must exist first.)

  3. Fill in the product or app name, a short description (max 160 characters), a long description (minimum 500 characters), up to 3 industries, compatible devices, and an optional website URL where buyers can learn more.

  4. Under Pricing, choose a payment model and payment frequency, and add any additional details.

  5. Upload a thumbnail and gallery images, plus optional videos.

  6. Click Add Offering, then Submit for Review on the offering's page.

Offerings follow the same review flow as profiles and listings: the first submission is reviewed, and later updates go live automatically.

How customers find your listing

Any ArborXR customer can open Explore XR in their portal to browse published listings, filter by device and industry, and search. On a listing, they click Add, pick the version that matches their devices, and the app lands in their Content Library, ready to deploy - no sideloading, no file transfers. Prospects who aren't on ArborXR yet find you through the public ArborXR Directory, where your profile, listings, and offerings are all searchable.

FAQs

I had a profile in the old Directory Portal. What happened to it?

Active Directory Profiles were migrated into their owners' ArborXR organizations. Open Explore XR > Directory to find yours. Review it, fill in anything new, and it's ready to go. If you can't find your profile, email partnerships@arborxr.com.

If you didn't have an existing ArborXR Organization that we could find, your page was not migrated. Ensure your organization has the same name as your profile did, and then create a new one, and it will reclaim your URL.

Where did my Demo App go?

Demo Apps from the old system weren't carried over, because listings now point at real builds in your own Content Library. Re-creating yours as a Listing takes a few minutes: upload the build (if it isn't already there), then follow Step 3 above.

Customers who already added your demo keep it and nothing changes on their devices.

How long does review take?

ArborXR is notified the moment you submit, and you'll see the status update on your profile or listing when it's done. Only your first submission of each profile, listing, or offering is reviewed - after that, your updates publish automatically.

Can I list a paid app?

Yes. Set Licensing to License required on the listing. Customers can still add the app from Explore XR; licensing, sign-in, and payment are handled by you, outside of ArborXR. If your product has no in-product licensing and you don't want it freely downloadable, create an Offering instead.

Can the same app be in more than one listing?

No. Each app in your Content Library can be linked to one listing. If you want to show several platform versions of the same product, add each platform build to the same listing.

Do I still need app sharing links?

Explore XR and app sharing work side by side. Use a listing when you want any ArborXR customer to be able to find and add your app; use direct sharing or sharing links when you want to hand a specific build to a specific organization. An app that reached an organization through direct sharing can't also be added from Explore XR by that organization, and vice versa, so the two don't overlap.

How do I take down a listing, offering, or my profile?

Open the item and click Request Unpublish. An ArborXR admin will process the request shortly. Listings and offerings require a published Directory Profile, so if you unpublish your profile, your listings and offerings come down with it.

Who in my organization can manage these?

Organization Owners and Admins can manage the Directory Profile, Listings, and Offerings. For other users, create a custom role with the Explore XR permissions you want to grant.
