What Are Modules?

Modules are what we call experiences inside of an application. If the Insights-integrated application you use for your XR deployments has multiple different experiences inside of it, these could be defined as modules, so that you can do things like integrate your LMS or see data for specific modules, as opposed to for the app as a whole.

In most cases, the content developer defines the modules within their content, submits them to ArborXR, then when they share the application with you, you'll be able to both see data on a per-module basis, and integrate modules within your LMS connections.

Step 1: Open Module Targets

First, we’ll navigate to where Module Targets are configured in ArborXR.

  • Log in to your ArborXR Portal

  • Find the application you're looking for within your Content Library

  • Navigate to the applications Insights Hub tab

  • Here, you'll see a Module Targets tab, that contains all of the Publisher defined modules. You can also add your own, but this requires direct collaboration with the content creator.

Step 2: Check for Publisher-Defined Module Targets

Here you will see if Module Targets are already provided by your ISV.

  • If Module Targets are listed, you can select from them.

  • If you see “No publisher links available”:

    • The ISV has not configured Module Targets.

    • Contact your ISV to confirm compatibility. Many hub apps can add support quickly—ask them to contact ArborXR Support for details.

Step 2a: Create Your Own Module Targets (Optional)

Some applications (especially user-generated content hubs) allow organizations to define their own Module Targets.

  • Scroll to the Created Links section.

  • Add a new Module Target by providing the required details.

  • These links are visible only to your organization.

💡 This does not yet have widespread support, so it is likely you will need to request your content provider to add it. Feel free to contact us if you need help setting up a meeting.

Step 3: Create the LMS Connection

Now that Module Targets are defined, we’ll connect them to your LMS.

  • Navigate to the LMS Connections tab in your Organization Settings

  • Click Create Connection

  • Enter the name of your LMS

  • Select the Application and the Module Target you want to connect

Note: At this time, you can only select one Module Target per LMS connection. Future updates will allow multiple selections and sequences.

Step 4: Choose Your LMS Connection Method

At this point, you must choose how to connect ArborXR to your LMS. You can only select one method per connection.

For more information on which method to choose, see:

Step 5: Verify the Connection

  • Log in as a learner in your LMS.

  • Launch the course you just set up.

  • Confirm that the training starts directly in the selected module.

  • Check your LMSs' reporting/grading screens to see if grades/completions have passed through.

🎉 You’ve successfully configured Module Targets and connected them to your LMS!

Summary

Module Targets allow you to:

  • Launch learners directly into modules inside hub apps.

  • Restrict LMS connections to only the modules your org has licensed.

  • Track completions and session data in ArborXR Insights.
