Integrating with Your LMS via ArborXR Insights
ArborXR Insights allows you to integrate your XR program with your LMS. If you're using an application that has Insights integrated, you'll be able to:
Set course content easily accessible by learners within the LMS
Set a group-level or organization-level authentication policy, so that data is tracked on a per-user basis and results are both recorded and shown in your LMS and ArborXR
ArborXR Insights supports 500+ LMS platforms.
To get started with integrating to your LMS, first navigate in ArborXR to your Organization Settings, then click 'LMS Connections':
Once you begin the process of creating your first, you'll select an application, and if applicable, a module.
⚠️ The application you choose must have Insights integrated for the LMS connection to be possible.
Now, you'll select your Connection Method. If you're not sure which to select, keep reading! This document will guide you.
Which Integration Path Should I Choose?
Welcome! Depending on your situation, this guide will help you determine the best integration method for your Learning Management System. ArborXR supports two main integration methods for LMS platforms.
SCORM Package Export (Maximum Compatibility)
If your LMS does not support LTI, or you prefer a simpler setup with manual control, SCORM is the way to go. ArborXR exports content as SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004, compatible with virtually all major LMSs.
✅ Simple file upload
✅ Compatible with nearly all LMSs going back 20+ years
✅ Manual grade & completion syncing (via LMS SCORM reporting)
❌ Requires consistent internet connection, not offline compatible
Start here if you're using SCORM:
LTI 1.3 Integration (Most Robust)
Best for platforms that support LTI 1.3 or LTI Advantage. This method provides live tracking, grade syncing, and a dynamic connection to ArborXR.
✅ Manual grade & completion syncing (via LMS SCORM reporting)
✅ Enhanced capability to handle unreliable internet
✅ Easier maintenance (no file exports needed)
❌ Slightly longer setup time
If your LMS supports LTI 1.3, we recommend starting here:
Don't support dynamic link registration? Use this instead:
Integrating ArborXR using LTI 1.3 Manual Configuration
Still Unsure Which Method to Use?
Here’s a quick rule of thumb:
LMS Feature | Use LTI 1.3 | Use SCORM |
Does your LMS support LTI 1.3 or LTI Advantage? | ✅ Recommended | ✅ Optional |
Want simplest method? | ❌ | ✅ Yes |
Have limited or low internet bandwidth? | ✅ Yes | ❌ |
If you're still not sure, feel free to start with SCORM (the most broadly compatible method), and graduate to LTI 1.3 later for a more robust connection.
