Alternative Recording Method on Meta Quest

By default, the Oculus (β€˜O’)/Meta Home button is mapped on the right-handed controller. If using an alternate home button mapping on the left-handed controller, substitute its Menu button (three vertical lines) for the Oculus (β€˜O’)/Meta Home button in the steps below.

  • Screenshot:

    • On the right-handed controller, quickly click and hold the Oculus (β€˜O’)/Meta Home button, then immediately press and release the front trigger on the controller. You will hear a camera shutter sound and see an in-headset notification to indicate that a screenshot was taken. It should disappear within a few seconds.

  • Screen recording:

    • To Start a recording, press and hold the Oculus (β€˜O’)/Meta Home button on the right-hand controller for about 1 second, and no longer, then press and hold the front trigger button. Wait until you hear a tone and notification from the Quest OS, then release the buttons. In the upper right corner of your field of view, a yellow dot will first appear, followed shortly after by a red dot, indicating the recording is active.

    • To Stop the recording, repeat the same button presses above. Once completed, the Quest device will sound a tone, and an in-headset notification from the Quest OS will indicate that the recording was saved to your Quest device. It should disappear within a few seconds.
