Configure Shared Mode Settings on Horizon Managed Services Devices

Steps to manage identity, session passcodes, session inactivity, and introduction steps on HMS devices.

Overview

ArborXR offers controls to manage shared mode settings on devices updated to Horizon OS v78 and higher.

Default Configuration in ArborXR

Identity

In shared mode "identity" refers to the requirement for users to log in with a managed Meta account. If you choose to require an account, anyone using the device will have to log in with a managed Meta account.

Disabled, meaning logging in with a managed Meta account is not required

Session Passcodes

Ask the user to create a passcode so they can continue their session after a break.

Session Timeout

The configurable duration of inactivity after which a user's session automatically ends. Available options are 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes.

Offline Mode

Users can start sessions without an internet connection.

Controller Free

Enable hand tracking on the device. Users will not be prompted to manually enable hand tracking during the session introduction steps.

Stationary Boundary by Default

The guardian will default to a stationary boundary that persists across sessions.

Ask the user to confirm that controllers are connected.

Guide the user through fitting the device properly.

However, the following session introduction steps cannot be turned off:

With session passcodes disabled, stationary boundary default enabled, and controller-free enabled, users will only need to go through two screens to start a session:

  1. Start Session

  2. Press the Meta Home button

If session passcodes are disabled by setting an inactivity timeout (e.g., 60 minutes), users will be prompted to Continue or End Session if the inactivity duration is met or the headset power cycles mid-session.


Steps to Configure Shared Mode Settings

  1. Navigate to the desired group.

  2. Select the Kiosk Experience tab.

  3. Select between ArborXR Home, ArborXR Kiosk Mode or In House launcher then scroll down to the Shared Mode Settings section.

  4. Once shared mode settings are configured, scroll down and click Save.
