Create & Assign Certificate Configuration Presets

Steps to create Certificates in your Configuration Presets library.

Overview

This guide explains how to create a Certificate Configuration preset for secure device provisioning, especially for Enterprise Wi-Fi authentication. ArborXR supports two primary certificate types: CA Certificates (trusted root certificates) and User Certificates (client certificates). CA certificates are used to validate the server's identity, ensuring a secure connection to the network. User certificates, often in PKCS 12 format, are used by the server to identify and authenticate the device itself, commonly for methods like EAP-TLS. Certificate Presets support enrollment via both the Static and Dynamic SCEP (Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol) and EST (Enrollment over Secure Transport) methods, or through PKCS certificate import.

Step 1: Create the Preset

  1. Navigate to Configuration Presets in the side navigation menu.

  2. Click on Certificates to expand the section.

  3. Select Create Certificate.

Step 2: Assign the Preset (CA certificates only)

Assign the preset from the Configuration Presets library. You can assign it to up to 100 groups or ungrouped devices in a single operation.

  1. Navigate to Configuration Presets in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the checkbox next to the CA Certificate preset you want to assign.

  3. Click Assign.

  4. Choose either Assign to Groups or Assign to Ungrouped Devices.

  5. Select the target groups or ungrouped devices, then click Assign.

šŸ’” You can also assign a preset from a single group or ungrouped device: open its Settings tab, click Manage Presets in the top right corner, select the Security preset, and click Assign Presets.
